Reading Fluency

This year, as part of the school’s development plan, there is a focus on supporting our children to become more fluent readers.
Either in lessons or as part of a small group, the children are having plenty of opportunities to listen to an adult read to them.  They are also taking part in “echo reading” where the children repeat what an adult has read to them.  This also allows children to read with more expression.
After one of their fluency sessions, Holly said, "Echo reading helps me to recognise the words because the teacher has already said them.  Brodie added, "I like following the text with my fluency finger while the teacher reads the passage.  Then, I get the chance to read it too.”

Congratulations to the following children for winning an achievement award at Tuesday’s assembly.
